I was looking through some older photos tonight and I saw this one, taken in the summer of 2009 while walking to the summit of Snowdon. I love the lines of the track every time I open the image so I thought it was worthy of sharing.
The original image was in colour but I thought the subject would suit a bit of the gritty mono treatment.
Monochrome works really well for this.
Thanks Gary 🙂
Hi Steve! Yes, I agree with Gary, mono is definitely the medium for this. I can understand why it hits you every time you see it. The sinuous railway line clinging to the steep hillside is great – and I also like the similarity in angles between the barren, stoney hillside and the white steam – super picture! Adrian
Thanks Adrian, maybe I’ll check out some more older photos to see what can be converted.
Yes, you definitely should – I’m a little surprised that I seem to be the only one in the blogs I follow who posts 10+ years old photos – maybe that’s because I’m an oldie! Go to it, man! A
Super! Love the composition and the grittiness of the monochrome conversion. Reminds me of an old BFI movie still!
Thanks M.
Indeed could be from “Murder on the Snowdon Express” 🙂
You always told me you were too young to remember the age of steam! Great photo.
Did I Dave? Oops, slipped up there.
Thanks for looking, cheers 🙂
Stunning shot! Very nicely executed and the mono conversion works wonders in this case. It definitely adds to the whole scene 🙂
Thanks for looking, and replying, appreciated 🙂
